About Me
Before starting a proofreading and editing business in 2000, I worked in local government for twenty-five years, dealing with property management, which involved writing and proofreading a wide variety of material ranging from memos and committee reports to complex contract documents. I also spent six years designing, writing and editing open-learning materials for an educational client and was trained to write advertising copy by one of Britain’s top copywriters.
A practising member of the Bahá’í Faith, I currently work on a freelance basis for two Bahá’í-owned publishing companies, carrying out numerous proofreading and copy-editing assignments.
I started writing my first blog in 2007 and I’ve been using other forms of social media to promote my business since 2008. I now feel confident enough to use the skills I’ve learnt to help other business owners make better use of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube to raise their company profile and attract potential customers.
Outside work, I was for many years a keen long-distance runner, competing in many half marathons and full marathons (including three London Marathons), until illness curtailed my career. However, I still enjoy long walks in the countryside and other outdoor activities. I also love going to the theatre — my brother is a part-time actor, stage director and playwright — and taking photographs.
